ARE YOU A DONKEY OR A RACE HORSE ?

TIME TO
GET
SOME POINTS

There is only 36 holes left before the Donkey and Elite 4 balls are finalised for our Grand Final at Ladybank.

Who are the front runners for this years Championship and who are trotting up the rear ??

THE DONKEY 4 BALL

Lets look at the players who need some good scores to avoid the Donkey.

Currently propping the rear are the brothers Cullen and with Geraldo missing this weekends round he will be putting all his hopes into having a fantastic round at St Michaels.

Jim is the man on form going by his last few rounds at Cawder and having 33 points at the Kittocks even tho he started with 3 blobs. I expect Jim to jump up the leaderboard in the next few weeks and avoid the Donkey 4 ball.

Another player missing this weekend is our last round Spoon winner David Stirling and again David is a player who will now be needing a cracking score in the next round.

We have a couple of players with only 4 rounds completed but this weekend sees one of them play his 5th. Brian Murphy the man who has flirted with the Spoon at every round he has played this season and with only 103 points from 4 rounds I think he will be right in the danger zone after this weekend. He now needs 2 great rounds before the cut off. Can he do it ???

Another 2 players with only 4 rounds played are Brian Newall and Steven Gibson who are sitting with 115 and 118 points each. They are not right in trouble yet but they need to hit some good scores. Mr Gibson will struggle to get any points as he's away on holiday so yet another player putting all his hopes into a good score at St Michaels.

Simon Jessney is close by and with him also missing this weekend he better find a good round in a fortnights time.

Last year the Donkey was won with 150 points so anyone with less than 150 currently is still capable of winning the prize as the Winter Donkey.

You all know who you !!!

I can see 3 of the 4 ball being formed after this weekend.

Gerry Cullen, David Stirling and Brian Murphy. All 3 will need to play exceptionally at St Michaels to get themselves out of the second last 4 ball at Ladybank.

Flirting close by is Smarty, Sinky, Richard, Neil, Craig W and Simon all under 150 points currently and with all the players mentioned above it is a fight to stay out of the second last 4 ball of this season.

THE ELITE
BALL

At the other end of the table we have the players battling to win the overall Championship and it is looking like a race between a few.

Current leader and Mr Consistent this season is Ian Fox with 175 points and his worst remaining score is 31 points. So a solid 36 points might see him hit 180 points.

He is being chased by Andrew Alexander on 171 points and his worst score is 30 points. Andrew will need 35 points to pull ahead of Ian if Foxy doesn't improve on his tally.

Just 1 point behind Andrew is Paul James our defending Champion and his worst score to dump is 28 points. He needs 34 point to go top as long as nobody currently ahead of him scores well.

Ian Baird is currently on 138 points and with his 5 round this weekend I expect Ian to move into contention for the final 2 rounds.

Foxy

Show's Ya

That is looking like the Elite 4 ball for Ladybank this year but you never know anything can happen.

On the fringes are Mick Drummond, Robert Chalmers with 166 and 164 points. Graham Dickie our winner 2 weeks ago will post his 5th round this weekend and if he gets 36+ points he will put himself in a solid position.

Just under the 160 mark is Tommy Nicholson and Derek Mitchell and they are really needing 2 very high rounds to move up into a challenging position.

There are 3 rounds to go and I suppose anyone from further back could get 40 points in their last 3 rounds but I can't see that happening. Nobody has ever done that before.

Things will change this weekend thats for sure.

It's all good fun.
