LENZIE GC COURSE REPAIRS

LENZIE GOLF CLUB
9TH DECEMBER
2011

On my way home today I decided to stop off at Lenzie and walk down to see how work is progressing.

There has been no information or pictures on the club web site so hopefully this lets some Hackers who are members see how work is progressing and keeps them informed of the situation.

The photos below show the 4th fairway scraped and ready to have sand and top soil spread over it then the turf laid.

The 4th green has now been re-built and all drainage on the green finished. They are currently installing a new irrigation system for the green. The green has also been sanded ready for turf.

When I was down at the site they were shaping the new bunkers to the right hand side. There is also a new drainage track being laid on the right hand side of the green and that goes right round the front and into the existing ditch on the left.

The water is back up over the 5th and 18th at this moment. This is due to the pumps having been turned off now for 2 weeks due to the workers and divers inside the tunnel. They are clearing it of all the debris and blockages within the tunnel to help with the flow of water once they start pumping again.
When they have got the water back to where it was a few weeks ago they will then start building the new outlet and control valves etc.

Once all the work is finished, hopefully the water levels will be kept at a reduced level and we don't have this major problem again.

Hope this information helps members understand what is going on and that work is progressing even in this terrible spell of weather. The pictures can be enlarged by clicking on them.

Blue pipe at the front is the irrigation pipe that is being
laid for the green.
The green is also now sanded.

Machine shaping the bunker on the right
hand side. There is another bunker going
in just in front of the tree in the picture.

Water back up towards the green but hopefully the
pumps will be back on soon and the levels reduced
again. The water is well below the green level.

The 4th fairway scrapped and ready for a sand
and soil mix then the turf laid on top.

Just short of the 4th green is where this
was taken from.

external areas formed now.
