A PERFECT AFTERNOONS GOLF
APART
FROM GETTING HUMPED
Craig and myself headed over to Gullane on Saturday afternoon and we had a great round of golf on a course in superb condition. I can't praise the condition of the course enough and was by far the best conditioned course I have played for a long time. The greens were just beautiful to putt on and lightning quick. The tee's and fairways were immaculate and you would have thought it was the height of the golf season with all the tee boxes out and not a matt in site. You can hit off these fairways all year round and yet there is hardly a divot to see.
Craig has a competition there in a few weeks so he fancied playing it before as it's been a couple of years since we last played there. We hit off at 1.45pm and it was a beautiful Spring afternoon. He played off the white boxes and me well in front off the yellows. It never helped me and I was humped 4-3.
We had a Hackers round on it in February 2010 but haven't been back as it hard to get our numbers out in daylight hours but after playing it on Saturday I will try and possibly get something organised this time next year for one of the rounds.
If you get a chance to nip over before the end of the month you will not be dissapointed it is miles ahead of anything we have played this year. The winter rates is on till the end of March and is £34.00.
Going back to our round there 2 years ago we had 20 players and the winner was Ian Baird with 36 points. He was followed by Davy Graham also on 36 points.
Spoon Boy was Jim Stirling with just 21 points for his round.
The leader of the Tour after that round was Paul James but Big Davy G was on his tail and ended up passing him later on to win the Tour overall that year.
