LADYBANK GOLF CLUB
MARCH 2012
Yesterday was our final round of our Winter Tour.
Winter ??
It was certainly not winter conditions as we had roasting temperatures well into the 70's. The course was in mint condition with fantastic greens , superb fairways and tees. Yesterday there was no matts on any of the tees and the tee boxes all set up for the season giving us the full course to play. Playing off the blues we had 6300 yards but I think it was probably playing longer than that as 3 of the par 3's were right behind the whites.
It has been a great winter for golf and yesterday just topped off the Tour with record temperatures for March. We possibly will never get another winter round ever with those kind of temperatures.
The standard of golf was not as high as the last few years at Ladybank. This was probably down to us playing over a far longer course and the greens being so quick.
In first place was last years Ladybank Champion John Hamilton who had 38 points just 1 less than last year. Superb shooting from Hammy who hasn't managed as many rounds as he normally does due to family commitments such as swimming lessons. He obviously likes the Ladybank track and solid shooting for the second year in a row.
In second place was Andrew Alexander who had 38 points also but lost on count back to Hammy. Andrew had 16 points and John had 18. Andrew also managed to pull back points in his private battle with Derek Mitchell and they both finished the season on identical points.
In third place was Craig Chalmers who had a solid round shooting 1 under par scratch for the course. Craig finished with 37 points and had 20 of them on the back 9. Craig is back at Ladybank in May for the Scottish Youths Championship played over 72 holes. Hope the weather is a good then for him.
Jamie O Prey also had 37 points but only had 15 on the back 9. Jamie has just returned from Turkey with the afternoon circus and was the overall winner of the weeks golf over there. So congratulations to Jamie.
Nearest the pins went to Andrew Alexander and Craig Chalmers at the 4th and 10th holes.
SPOON BOY for the day was guest Jim Fleming who saved Jim Cullen's bacon by getting 1 point less than him. Jim won the spoon with 23 points followed by Jim Cullen and Graham Dickie on 24 points each.
