Skippy and the Mexicano |
On Sunday it was a good battle between the CrowWood Mafia and the Lenzie Hackers. In the Crow Wood corner was The Mexicano and Show's Ya and for Royal Lenzie it was Skippy and Daffy Dill.
It was a tight match with the Mafia 1 up at the turn and it took a birdie from myself at 10 to stop them going 2 up as Bairdy also managed a birdie. It was nip and tuck with Jim getting a great up and down at 11 to keep it at 1. We were struggling to keep it at that and thanks to Ian 3 putting the 12th we got a half.
At 13 Ian pulled his second shot left and lost his ball. Then Neil had a few flubs trying to chip onto the elevated green. With me on in 2 I had 2 easy putts for the hole. It was now all square.
On 15 with me in for a 4 Ian missed a 8 footer for a half allowing us to go 1 up the first time in the match. Jim got a great putt for a half on 16th to keep us in front. On the17th both me and Jim were in for 5's and with the Mexicano going OB and Ian in the bunker it was our hole for a 2-1 victory.

The Mexicano finally on the 13th green after duffing a few chips |
Looking back up the 13th |
It was good tight game with very little between us but when things got tough the Crow Wood boys just crumbled as the game got to the crunch. The Mafia have had a good share of success this season with both Ian and Brian Murphy winning a Tour round so it was time to pull them back a peg or two !!
GOOD GAME GUYS AND GOOD COMPANY.
