LEADERBOARD

Jim Stirling and Stevie Paul
the men at the top of both
leaderboards.

LEADERBOARD AFTER ELIE

The leaderboard for 3 rounds is a better picture of how things are going rather than 4. Most will be counting these 3 rounds as part of their 5 unless they have a few cracking rounds in the next few weeks.

Things are very tight with only 3 points between the top 4 !!!

There are 14 players within 10 points of the lead !!!!!

There is still time for most to make a move up the table but with a few tough courses to go it will very hard to get 38-40 points in a single round.

The most consistent golfers so far are Jim, Stevie, Gerry. and Andrew.

Gerry's two 36 pointers at the start of the winter have him just 3 off the lead and Ian Baird also is not far away. That proves that even Wooden Spoon winners can get back in amongst the lead.

At the rear of the field and challenging the DONKEY OF THE YEAR are George Leadbitter, Danny Totten,Hammy,Jim Cullen,Kenny Lang,Alex Smart and Sinky.

With 4 rounds remaining the next 2 rounds at Southerness and Drumoig are our toughest rounds of the winter and anyone scoring well at either could see them gaining ground rapidly.

March sees our last 2 rounds at Powfoot and Ladybank. I am certain the final at Ladybank there will be at least 8 or 10 people with a chance of winning overall.

ELIE RESULTS

JANUARY 30TH 2011

The 5th round of this years Tour was at Elie Golf Links which was as usual in great condition. This was a real test of golf with a strong ice cold wind blowing of a dark grey North Sea.

Scores for the day were very good considering the challenging conditions and the overall leader board for 3/4 rounds makes interesting reading. I will post the leaders scores later.

The first par 3 of the day was at the 3rd and only 2 players out of 32 hit the green - Graham Dickie and Gordon Sinclair who was the closest. The next 3 holes played straight into the wind and so did the 9th.

Billy Gibson in the 1st game set the standard on the next par 3 and fortunately for him nobody got any closer with the next 31 attempts.

Leaders at the turn were Brian Newell on 19 points and Graham Dickie on 18.

Bringing up the rear were John Hamilton and George Leadbitter with just 9 points closely followed by Alex Smart on 10.

The eventual winner of the SPOON JIM WYLIE was sitting on 13 points only to collapse on the back 9 and finish with just 22 points. He just won this illustrious prize with Alex Smart scraping more points than him on the back 9.

FRIDAY 21ST
POOL COMPETITION
LENZIE GOLF CLUB
OVERALL WINNER
TOMMY NICHOLSON
RUNNER UP

MICK DRUMMOND

A good night with a lot of the fancied players being humped, pumped and dumped in the opening rounds. John Curran, Danny Totten, Kenny Lang, Scott Kennedy and Jamie Carrroll all were left watching from the side lines most of the night.

Best player on the night was Tommy Nicholson. He defeated Gordon Sinclair in a early round with Gordon not getting one shot as Tommy cleared the table from start to finish. He then went on to defeat his good mate Mick Drummond in the final - well done to both
.
Thanks to Danny and Scott for organising the night, providing new cues and trophies. Unfortunately due to their lack of skills in the betting area both ended up becoming the first bookies ever to lose money in a competition.

Well done guys a good night.

ELIE JANUARY 30TH

Elie Golf Links

32 players for Elie shows that it is one of our most popular courses each year.

Always in great condition and a good test of golf especially if the wind blows.

Last years winner of the spoon at Elie was Murray Greig and he is back this year to better last years score and avoid driving back down the road with the spoon.

I have managed to fit everyone in as myself (still on one leg), Craig (exams) and Michael Kennaway (new job) are not playing.

Anyone not able to go please let me know asap.

There is a long way to go and anything can happen yet as we still have 5 rounds to go. So if your golf has been piss then the next 5 rounds can be your counting rounds. Only if you stop playing piss !!!!
If you look at the 3 rounds total it is very tight at the top and that is how it went last year with half a dozen capable of winning on the last day.
Current 3 round leader in the race for Donkey of the season is Danny Totten closely followed by Jim Cullen and George Leadbitter.

RESULTS

Dundonald Links

This was the 4th round of our winter tour after a 8 week break due holidays and terrible weather.

The course today was in superb condition for this time of year and with a stiff wind blowing the course played long. It was amazing to see the course in such dry conditions with not even a puddle on it.

Winner today was Elite Squad player David (the ginger magician)Wylie with a excellent score of 35 points.
He was closely followed by Scott Kennnedy on 33 points. Playing just his 2nd round this year but with 66 points for 2 rounds he has to be watched for the overall prize this year.

In 3rd place we had 3 players with 30 points and Tommy Nicholson winning the sweep money due to both Craig Chalmers and Stevie Paul being deducted points for winning money in previous rounds. Craig had 19 points on the back 9 holes and placed 3rd in the overall round.

SPOON WINNER

Surprise winner of the spoon was Mr Steady Ian Baird with 20points . He won the spoon as he only had 10 points on the back 9 and Jamie Stirling had 15. Just proves anyone can have a bad day at the office and win this top prize.

NEXT ROUND ELIE GOLF LINKS 30TH JANUARY.

Sunday 9 January 2011

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hope you all had a good festive break.

I know you will all be desperate for a game as I don't think anyone has hit a ball on a course since Scotscraig some 8 weeks ago. I have spoke to Dundonald Links today and they are open but ground is hard. Next week is to be wet and mild from Wednesday onwards so hopefully the frost with be gone by the weekend.

I have no places for Dundonald this Sunday.

Also if you can no longer go please let me or Gordon know asap.

We are starting at the 1st and the 10th so that will mean less time hanging around waiting to start.

There is hot rolls available till noon.

There is also soup and sandwiches afterwards for those who want it.

28 Players FULL.

I will post a full list of players for each course soon.

Next round at Elie is full with 32 players and a waiting list of 3.

Southerness we have 28 players but I am sure Scott could get more times if we need them.

Drumoig I have 28 places and is full

Powfoot is also full with 28 players (possibly get another tee time if required)

That leaves Ladybank on the 27th of March - 32 spaces booked.

I have paid 32 deposits myself and will be taking names and £10.00 deposits next weekend for there and that will be all the rounds taken care of.

All we need now is for the weather to improve.
