(fortunately for Stevie "I will never win the Spoon" Paul)

On Sunday our prayers were nearly answered and I was getting my speech ready for presenting the Spoon to a very quiet Stevie who was looking a bit green about the cheeks.

Just one game to come in surely it was going to be the Spoon for Stevie. For years now he has said "he will never win the Spoon" and to his credit he has avoided it with ease on most occasions.

For those new to the site it is worth looking back to 2010 at Scotscraig and the picture of Stevie missing a putt and the story about him fighting for every point on the last few holes. He somehow managed to avoid it that day also.

I have never seen so many sad faces on Sunday as word came in that Davy had a howler on the back 9 and was just 1 point below Stevie and saving the bold boy from the prize he will never win.

Unfortunately I had to rip up the Speech I had for our Elite player.

One day Stevie and if you continue to play like you did on Sunday it will not be just be the once.
