I was playing in the 4 ball that contained the winner of the Spoon on Sunday and I witnessed a collapse  on par with the American team at Medinah a few weeks ago.

Reaching the turn Gerry had 17 points with 2 blobs !!!

He walked off the 18th with just a further 4 points for a grand total of 21 and as for blobs - loads!!

It was a horrendous back 9 with poor tee shots right from the word go. This resulted in him having to drive back to hit 3 off the tee so many times I was getting concerned his buggy was going to run out of fuel. His putting was non existent due to the fact he never reached any greens and had to get the putter out.

Yes this was a major collapse right up there with Neil Keir who at Lundin a few years ago turned with 20 points but only got 4 coming home also.

Gerry was cruising on the front 9 as 17 points with 2 blobs is good shooting and most players getting 17 points after 9 would be confident of avoiding the spoon.

Let this meltdown be a warning to all - its not over till your off the 18th !!
