I am over here just now on my own as all the family left today and awaiting the arrival of the 7 hackers who are playing in this years Florida Tour. After dropping off family at airport I went and picked up Tommy Nicholson's new irons that he had ordered over the phone with Edwin Watts a national golf store so they were at condo for him arriving.
The above photos are from World Woods just north of Tampa. It has 2 courses that are both in the top 100 courses in north America. Craig and me played the 36 holes last week and as always they were in fantastic condition. Great deal there also - 2 rounds including lunch $70 on 2 of the best course in the whole of the state. It's a fantastic place to play golf.
This venue will be our second last rounds before returning and we are playing a Ryder Cup format with teams of four playing four balls in the morning round and 4 singles matches in the afternoon. Six points up for grabs so 3.5 for a winning team out right.
I am told Mr Totten is bringing the Spoon out with him so it can be presented each night to the unlucky player.
We will be having a Singles Competition over a number of rounds , The Ryder Match and finally a pairs match to finish.
John Carslaw has managed to arrange two tee times at the Vinoy Resort in St Petes which is very private/expensive and only open to resort guests or members. So thanks from all John.
I also have managed to get guest tee times on the very expensive Island course at Innesbrooke through a contact I made while booking Gordon onto the PGA Copperhead Course that his family wanted booked for his 50th. He will be playing that when we leave as he is staying on with Mrs Sinky.
I have played 2 courses this week that have always been private and no access to anyone who didn't live on the estate. Due to the recession these course and many more have been struggling and some closing completely. The 2 courses we played were The Wentworth and Crescent Oaks and they have been bought over by a company who are doing great deals to get word out that they are open to the public.
The Wentworth cost $25 and the Oaks $20 - absolutely incredible value and great layouts and condition especially Wentworth with their greens reading 10 on the stimp. Those costs include your buggy which were brand new at both courses !
Courses booked so far are
Fox Hollow
Vinoy Resort
Countryside Club
Pine Barrens World Woods
Rolling Oaks World Woods
River Strand
Innesbrooke The Island Course
I have a few days on my own before the Team arrive and will be picking them up at the airport on Monday evening.
Weather to be great for the boys -82/85 degrees so bring factor 30
Updates will follow during the week no doubt. Maybe Mr Totten the site Hacker can post some results etc when here.
