DUNBAR 11TH FEBUARY

This years Scottish Boys is held at Dunbar in April and yesterday Craig, his mate Robbie and myself went over for a practice round. We are back this Wednesday for another round before the boys go back to school as it is their last chance to play it before April.

It was the best I have been on this winter and was in mint condition for this time of the year. Greens were just superb and fast even in February and I think they would be like lightning in the summer with big rolling slopes very tricky and 3 putts galore.

Staff were very friendly and they allowed the boys to play of the back tees as that will be where the Championship will be off.

The course didn't have one puddle on it and for £29 and £15 for the boys it was great value. Unfortunately you can only play Monday- Friday on it as the don't allow visitors out to late on at weekends and there is not enough daylight. If you can get a day off mid week it's well worth the money.

Took about a hour and a half from Lenzie to get there.

My golf was okay but with only 9 points on the front 9 I thought the Spoon had my name on it already this Sunday but things improved on the back nine to finish with 26 points. That was my first full 18 holes of golf in 16 weeks and I was tired at the end. The knee stiff and sore but not any worse and this morning is the same as it was before yesterday.

Craig played okay and he had 3- 2s at the par 3s along with a birdie at a par 5 got him to 3 under at one stage before dropping in the water on 2 occasions. These were caused by not knowing he could reach a burn off his drive and then cutting a blind corner which on the other side was the sea. So playing these rounds and making notes will help him in April. He unfortunately finished with 3 bogeys and walked off 3 over for the round.

It would be great to play at the weekend and I might contact them to see if they would take a large booking in the winter for next years Tour. I doubt it but you don't ask you will never get.

Alison and Laura were through for the day with us and afterwards we made a 1 mile detour off the A1 to have dinner at The Longniddry Inn a restaurant we often visit when playing in that area. Food is first class with huge portions and great value.

RETURN OF THE BIRDIE MACHINE

BEST HAT OF THE DAY AWARD
JAMIE CARROLL
Jamie returned to the Tour
and proceeded to get back to
his normal high standard of golf.
Birdies at 10 and 11 move him
up with the best of the day.

What a lot of shite - high standard
of golf ????? Is this the same Jamie
we all know getting 2 birdies.
The only thing I know Jamie has had 2 of
on the Tour is 2 SPOONS IN A ROW.

Welcome back Jamie.

( he did birdie 10 and 11)

Where has the hat gone ????

Bilbo charging on in the first
game finishing 3 holes ahead
of the second game.
John Wynn getting to grips
with the greens.

Tommy and Billy posing.

Last years overall Winter Tour
Champion had his best round of the winter.
Is Davy about to regain his form and make a late charge
up the leader board. There is still plenty of time.

TEAM PHOTOS

Last 2 games waiting to go out.

How did this man ever
win the spoon with a
swing like that? Answer
further down the post.
George Leadbitter and Hoose
Convener Peter Ritchie. George is
in pole position for THE DONKEY prize
which is currently hibernating in Jamie
Carroll's locker waiting for a
new owner.
Geraldo,Andrew,Jonny and John.
Gerry and Andrew are nicely
placed near the top of the league.
3 golfers and a Fanny out walking
who jumped into the photo.
Huddles and Cuddles from
Mick and Graham. John is
taking his time adding up his score.
Surely it's not that hard to count
to 25.

A rare site Vera James with a smile.
Now I realise why Jim got the spoon
he was oot with Mr Happy himself and
got so depressed listening to him that Jim
lost the will to live and only got 9 points
on the back 9. Sorry Jim hopefully that
won't happen again.

A 4 HANDICAP PLAYER- MA ARSE

TRIUMPH FOR THE HIGH
HANDICAPPERS.

Back in October Scott Kennedy was part of a pairing who inflicted the biggest defeat ever in a match.
Last Sunday he was the one getting HUMPED, PUMPED AND DUMPED.

This is something that can happen to us all but when the draw was made last Sunday there was a lot of grinning and cruel predictions made when two of our higher h/c players were drawn together.
Hot shot Kennedy and Stevie Mac were back slapping and grinning as they bounced onto the first tee.
I met them on the 4th with Stevie slapping it up the rough on the right hand side doing his utmost to avoid the fairway. Scott was buried deep in a bunker and remained there after a few swipes.
The 2 h/c boys were sitting on the green- was this a shape of things to come ???

You fucking better believe it.

Result to the under dogs 3-2 or 4-3 I am not really sure and it doesn't fucking matter Team Kennedy/McPherson got a jolly good rogering and that should be a good lesson to all.

Never underestimate your opponent just because he is a high handicapper.

Another thought to ponder is that Big Stevie eventually got 35 points and won the overall sweep. They got humped and Stevie had 35 points !!! Scott what the fuck did you contribute to in the team ???

Good fun guys.

WELL DONE TO DAVID AND JIM

"Right Jim lets fucking PUMP
these two" says David

Swipe 1 or 2 or 3- who cares
it was to many. Another hole lost.

For fucks sake your putting
is shite says Stevie. Always a
sign your goosed when partners
start calling each other shite.
WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!!!

Jim grinning like a Cheshire cat.
Low h/c ma arse.It was a walk in the park.
Scott Kennedy on ma mantle piece tonight.
Big Stevie can sit in the corner as he is to big
for the mantle piece.

SAND MAN TOTTEN

Sandy Man Totts.

Good drive on the short
7th straight into sand at
green.
First attempt and he gets
half a yard closer to the hole.

Second attempt flies oot !!!

Misses hole by a baw hair.
Bunker shot of the day ??

Elie Prize Winners

ELIE SPOON CHAMPION 2011

Jim now joins a list of illustrious winners
who have successfully played bad enough
to win this award.

JIM WYLIE THE ELDER SPOON MAN.

Son David "says he is an embarrassment
to the family".
How many times has Jim said that about the
Ginger Magician ??

Good fun glad you enjoyed
the day Jim.

Well done Jim winning the spoon at your
first attempt. Makes a change having
a Wylie winning that doesn't have ginger
hair.
Jim Stirling continuing his good
form by scoring 36 points and winning
overall. He even managed to finish 3rd
in the sweep despite being deducted 2 points.
Jim now sits at the top of the league for 3 rounds.
Big Stevie counting his winnings
to see how many packet of crisps
he can buy. Stevie won the sweep
with 35 points.

David Stirling blinded by the bright lights
of success and fame. He was runner up in the sweep
and was also part of TEAM Stirling/Cullen
who pumped Team Kennnedy/ McPherson.

More of that match to follow.
