KITTOCKS RESULTS

KITTOCKS COURSE
ST ANDREWS

Course was in great condition for December
Round 5
Winter Tour

When we arrived on Sunday the conditions were great. It was cool and there was very little wind but the forecast was for 30mph winds to hit before mid day.

So most peoples plan I think was get some points on the card before we reached the turn. By 11am the winds had picked up and by 12 it was howling. The back 9 especially the last 5/6 holes were brutal with blobs all over the place. I had 26 points walking off the 14th green and then only got 2 points in the last 4 holes. I heard rumours that some people only got 2 points over the last 7 holes !!

So this was a real test of winter golf and one man rose to the occasion .

John Byrne had a fantastic 38 points in some horrendous conditions and was 3 points ahead of Davy Graham who in turn beat defending champion Ian Fox by 1 point.

Nearest the pins were John Byrne on the 6th and on the 16th only 2 players out of 28 hit the green. By the time we all played that hole the wind was cutting straight across the hole and carving balls out in the sea.

Davie Revie was the nearnest to the pin at the 16th just beating player of the day John Byrne.

SPOON Boy was won Div Nimmo with 21 points. I actually thought it would be won with a lot less than 21 points due to the conditions as from about the 7 hole onwards it was very very tough.

I'm glad I made the decision to play off the forward tees as the whites at 6700 yards would have killed us in those winds.
Bunkers and collars around the greens were in great condition

Everyone should have the Excel sheet now with all the totals. That's 5 counting rounds in for quite a few players and they can now start dumping the worst ones.

Greens were superb even with all the rain the night before.
