WHO WAS THE NUMPTY ??

WHO WAS THE HACKER WHO OPENED THEIR BROLLY ON THE 16TH ??

WHAT A DIDDY !!

TOUR LEADERS AFTER 5 ROUNDS

A REVIEW AT THE HALF WAY

After 5 rounds we now have a target for everyone to chase and at this stage it seems we are going to have a very high score for the best 5 rounds.

Last year Ian Fox won overall with 179 points for his best 5 scores but already we have Davy Graham on 178 with 5 rounds left  to dump his poorest scores and increase his overall total.

Obviously the summer conditions at a few of the rounds which resulted in 40+ points wins means that a few players have got some solid points in the bag.

So who are the ones at the top ?

D Graham    178
G Cullen      173
I Fox            173
D Revie        169
B Gibson      169
A Smart        168
G Sinclair      168

At the other end of the scale who are the players that are in the Donkey 4 Ball territory?

N Keir              141
J Cullen            140
A Alexander     140

A very long way to go and any player is still capable of winning or being in the Donkey fight. There is 5 rounds to go and all to play for.

After Leven a lot more players will have posted 5 scores and things will change.

KITTOCKS COURSE
ST ANDREWS

Course was in great condition for December
Round 5
Winter Tour

When we arrived on Sunday the conditions were great. It was cool and there was very little wind but the forecast was for 30mph winds to hit before mid day.

So most peoples plan I think was get some points on the card before we reached the turn. By 11am the winds had picked up and by 12 it was howling. The back 9 especially the last 5/6 holes were brutal with blobs all over the place. I had 26 points walking off the 14th green and then only got 2 points in the last 4 holes. I heard rumours that some people only got 2 points over the last 7 holes !!

So this was a real test of winter golf and one man rose to the occasion .

John Byrne had a fantastic 38 points in some horrendous conditions and was 3 points ahead of Davy Graham who in turn beat defending champion Ian Fox by 1 point.

Nearest the pins were John Byrne on the 6th and on the 16th only 2 players out of 28 hit the green. By the time we all played that hole the wind was cutting straight across the hole and carving balls out in the sea.

Davie Revie was the nearnest to the pin at the 16th just beating player of the day John Byrne.

SPOON Boy was won Div Nimmo with 21 points. I actually thought it would be won with a lot less than 21 points due to the conditions as from about the 7 hole onwards it was very very tough.

I'm glad I made the decision to play off the forward tees as the whites at 6700 yards would have killed us in those winds.
Bunkers and collars around the greens were in great condition

Everyone should have the Excel sheet now with all the totals. That's 5 counting rounds in for quite a few players and they can now start dumping the worst ones.

Greens were superb even with all the rain the night before.

A WINDY DAY FROM THE PAST

WINDY DAY
ON THE KITTOCKS
IN SEPTEMBER
2009

In 2009 we played the Kittocks in very windy conditions.

The results below are from the blue book with all the other scores from each round. It wasn't a official Hackers Rd but a small outing to the Kittocks.

The next month 12 of us played at Drumoig and that was the first time the Big Spoon appeared and was won by Hammy with 20 points.

Results

P James         26
R Chalmers   25
B Gibson      24
A Smart        23
G Cullen      23
D Graham    23
G Sinclair     23
G Burns       18

The round was won with just 26 points and still remains the lowest winning score for 18 holes we have ever had at a outing or Hackers event. It was very tough in fact brutal if I remember right.

It will be interesting tomorrow to see how the scores come in. Looks okay at 9am but getting very windy from mid day onwards.

It's called the Hackers Winter Tour. Tomorrow i think we will see some winter conditions for the first time this season.

It's to be dry and reasonably mild.

Who will be the best player tomorrow ?

With out doubt the person who keeps the ball low and in play.

Full numbers for tomorrow with 28 players.

See you all up there 9AM SHARP

Should be fun !!!!!

SCOTT WYLIE SPOON BOY 2013

On Sunday night our Spoon was left sitting at a table with nobody to take him home.

The new owner was Scott and he had left the building early due to work commitments (Aye right ). Scott had won the Spoon with ease on Sunday. He could have played 3 extra holes and would probably have still won it as he was 6 points behind the next player.

So it was left to Sinky and myself to take the Spoon and track the runaway down. We caught up with him at his house and gave the family a big surprise by presenting him with the Spoon.

" You keep telling us that your a good golfer dad "

"Is that what you get for being first dad"

"My dad has won a prize "

" Bring that inside don't let the neighbours see you outside with that "

Glad we could let the family see how well you did on Sunday Scott.

THE SPOON ALWAYS GET HIS MAN !!!!!
