SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP

By all accounts a good time was had by all (apart from Big Neil ) yesterday at Glasgow Gailes. The weather certainly doesn't get much better for links golf.

The scores by most were very good and Steven Gibson took this years Summer Championship with a solid 37 points. Steven has dropped his handicap by a few shots this season and is obviously in good form. Will he keep it going through the winter and challenge for the main prize?

In second place was a player who has been struggling most of the season with the Lamb Shanks and is yet to play to his handicap in a medal. Smarty finished with a very good 37 points but lost to Gibby on countback.

In third place was the Winter Champion Ian Fox with 36 points. Soon will be time for Ian to start defending his title.

Last years Summer Champion Mick Drummond found himself slipping from the top to nearly collecting the Spoon. A late rally over the last few holes saved his bacon.

In 4th place was the new slimline Geraldo Cullen our King Spooner. Gerry has not only lost 4 stone in weight but has over the summer played lot of golf and got his game going again.

Just behind Geraldo was Davy Graham who I am told had the round of his life at Sponsors day at LGC on Friday. He had 5 birdies and shot 72 helping his team win the event overall. Well done Davy not bad for a joiner.

With our Florida trip coming along at the end of September there are certainly a few players starting to hit some good form. Smarty, Davy and Geraldo all shooting well yesterday. I need to get the sticks back out or it could be 9 wee Spoons for me.

Nearest the pins were Simon Jessney and Neil Keir.

Neil also won the SPOON with 23 points for the first time. Then Spoon was treated to a nice drive up the road in his new Bentley. Very nice Neil.

The Spoon won't want to leave you if it keeps getting a drive in that machine.
