Steven Gibson gave Alex the tie today as he couldn't play. That's the risk when things get left to the last day and there is no room to re schedule.

That's the 16 players in the draw for the next round.

Already in round 1 we have had the Official favourite knocked out (Foxy) and the self proclaimed favourite Vera also dumped  at the first hurdle.

Tommy's unofficial book of bets has taken a pounding with the above 2 going out along with himself and Andrew Alexander.

So next round is being drawn tomorrow night.

ANOTHER 2 RESULTS

Today Brian Murphy got a bye into the next round as John Cumming could not play before the deadline.

Tonight Mick Drummond beat Davy Graham at Lenzie 1 up after a game that had only 5 holes halved in the match.

So Mick proceeds along with Brian into the next round.

Only 1 game left and it's Alex Smart and Steven Gibson who are playing at Cawder tomorrow afternoon.

WEEKEND MATCHPLAY RESULTS

RESULTS

On Friday night Brian Newall beat Davy Stirling 2-1 at Lenzie. Brian was 4 down after 6 but battled well and is into the next round.

Today Jim Cullen beat Ian Fox 2-1 at Cawder playing the Keir course.

At Carnwath Golf Club Simon Jessney beat Gerry Cullen 3-1.

Tonight at Cawder I beat Tommy Nicholson on the 19th hole playing the big course which was a major surprise for me as I haven't played a full round for over 8 weeks now. Maybe when you don't play for so long your head isn't full of all the crap that you fill it with thinking about swings and all that other technical pish that we really know fuck all about.

It was a great match against Tommy that was nip and tuck the whole way and it went to extra holes after I put my ball into the trees while playing the 18th. Thanks for a great game Tommy.

So thats another 4 players into the last 16.

Last night John Byrne beat Neil Keir over his old stomping ground at Crowwood. John was giving Neil a shot at each hole so it must have been tough as we all know the Big Mexicano can play well above his handicap sometimes.

So John is into the next round.

Tonight Craig Weir beat Scott Wylie at Carnwarth. I am told it was a very tight game with Craig winning 1 hole up. Craig is the to the next round and I wonder if his club mate Simon is going to join him. Simon has to beat Geraldo to make it a Carnwarth pair into the next round.

Well done to both players.

THE NEXT ROUND WILL BE DRAWN NEXT WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT 7.30PM APPROX.

I LOVE GADGETS

The McFlurry turned 50 a few weeks ago and some of the Hackers were at his surprise birthday party.

We all chipped in to buy him range finder to measure how far he is from the flag.

It a good piece of equipment but it doesn't see through trees and is only good if you can see the flag from your position on the correct fairway.

So might be on eBay next week as Alex realises it's no good for him as he's very rarely on the correct fairway.

Tuesday 23rd

Last night the Draincleaner gave Bilbo the tie as he's to busy to play any ties. Billy reckons he crapped out of the tie as he knew I would have pumped him !

Tonight Davie Revie got beat by Graham Dickie at Lenzie 3-2. Davie said he was to deflated to to give me a full run down.

He did say Graham was hard to beat and played very well.

So well done to Graham and Billy both are in the next round.

Stuart McPherson has just informed me that Andrew Alexander is unable to play their tie due to family commitments and has told Stuart to take the tie.

So that is another 3 players into the next round.

LATEST RESULTS FROM MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP

THE "FAVOURITE" IS OOT !!!

Big Vera Duckworth got beat by Richard Aitken at Pollock 1 up. Richard was 3 up with only a few to play and Paul got it back to level at 16 before Richard got his nose in front again by winning the 17th and hanging on to the end.

So well done Richard on into the last 16.

Show's Ya Bairdy had to play extra holes to beat Del and get into the next round. A great match said Ian and Del Boy was 3 up after 6 but Bairdy fought back and took Del down the 19th hole before shaking hands.

John Wynn beat George Leadbitter today at Lenzie Golf Club. He won 3-2 and eases into the last 16. Thats 2 players through to the last 16.
